1.)   Set a date and make a guest list.

Do you want your friends from college to come over and watch the football game for a cookout or do you want family to come over for a birthday celebration that is long overdue? Decide what occasion you want to celebrate (or just an excuse to get together) find the perfect time, whether it be a Saturday afternoon or a Sunday evening, put it in the calendar and choose your people!

2.)   Strategize the menu

A tailgate calls for the hot dogs and burgers to hit the grill, where as a birthday celebration may call for something more like a home cooked meal. Decide on what other guests can help in contributing if they ask. Whether it’s chips, drinks or dip, let them bring it!

3.)   Start a grocery list

What all ingredients do you need for your menu, do you have all of the paper goods that you need or are you using that fine china that has been untouched in months? Do you want alcohol, if so what kinds of wine or beer does everyone enjoy? (Our personal fav is choosing the wine!!) There are plenty of yummy options that are super affordable! (blog post coming soon about all of our favs!)

4.)   Get the house ready!

Time to tidy up and finish up those last minute small projects like hanging the décor that the hubby has been putting off on Sunday afternoons because y’all take a nap instead. This is a great time to organize the house a few days prior to your gathering and a great excuse to get the house as clean as possible! Then on the day of, all you have to do is set up the food, put out any decorations, light a feel-good candle and wait for your beloved guests to arrive!

5.)   Don’t be too hard on yourself

Last but most certainly not least, go easy on yourself! Enjoy your time with your friends and family because that’s what the gathering is for. Clean up here and there when needed but also take time to visit with your guests. Don’t stress about the small things because it’s the company of those you love that matters the most. Enjoy it and soak it all in! Happy Hosting!
